Omar Rabie | Biography
Omar Rabie is a lawyer with a firm background in Corporate Commercial laws and has an extensive experience in supporting social and commercial businesses.
Rabie has a wide range of professional experiences in social innovation, employment, and entrepreneurship towards the development and building up the capacities of enterprises and start-ups in the MENA region.
Along with Mr. Rabie's legal practice and managing Rabie Law Firm, he served as a Partner at Shehata and Partners Law Firm, and worked as a Legal Specialist for the United Nations Operation Services (UNOPS) on Innovation, Infrastructure, and Impact Investment, Helsinki, Finland. Prior to joining UNOPS, he worked as an Advisor for the German International Cooperation (GIZ) on establishing job placement structures across Egypt providing technical, legal, and strategic support. He also served as an Incubators & Accelerators Advisor, at USAID's Strengthening Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development (SEED) project.
Rabie worked at Hegazy and Partners Law Firm in Cooperation with Crowell and Moring where he handled various matters for mega corporations on multiple disciplines as; Mergers & Acquisitions, Capital Market, Arbitration, and Corporate Commercial. He also worked for IKM Advocates, DLA Piper Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, where he handled broad offshore transactions for multinational corporations across different industries, as Oil & Gas, Pharmaceutical, and Construction.
Rabie worked as an Account Manager at Nahdet El Mahrousa (NM), supporting early-stage social enterprises, turning their ideas into operating social businesses. He was also a Program Manager at Ana Masry Foundation and an active member of Green Arm Initiative.
Mr. Rabie also handled the Communication and Social Mobilization at United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Egypt Office as part of his Lazord Fellowship at the Gerhart Center for Philanthropy and Civic Engagement at the American University in Cairo, where he also had the chance to overlook one of International Development Law Organizations (IDLO) projects in Egypt.
Rabie earned his Bachelor of Law from Cairo University, and a Diploma in Social Innovation Management from the UPeace Center for Executive Education in Costa Rica. Rabie also earned his M.Sc. at the Europe Mediterranean Studies, from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. Mr. Rabie completed his LL.M Degree at the American University in Cairo, in International Comparative Law, and currently also a Ph.D candidate at the Europe Mediterranean Studies, from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University.
Scope of Work
As a Legal Consultant for startups, the primary role is to support and provide the guidelines needed for the startups to be aware of the legal condition, select the best type of formal registration. Moreover, the consultant needs to provide the guidance and support in many aspects as mentioned below:
● Legal Compliance and Regulation
● Contract Management
● Intellectual Property Safeguarding
● Business Structure Advisement
● Employment Law Expertise
● Funding and Investment Strategies and its legal framework
SUMMARY OF KEY FUNCTIONS:
The Consultant is mainly responsible on supporting the startups in the following:
● Ensuring that the startup adheres to all relevant laws and regulations.
● Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts to protect the startup's interests.
● Safeguarding patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.
● Advising on governance matters, including board meetings and compliance with corporate bylaws
