Tarek Salah
Technology Management Department Head

As the Head of TIEC’s Tech Management Department, Salah is at the helm of multiple presidential initiatives across Egypt and Africa. Such strategic initiatives focus on (1) building technology development capabilities in the youth, and (2) enabling IT startups. Tarek is responsible for Next Technology Leaders (NTL), African App Launchpad (AAL), Next Coders, and Innovation Clusters Initiative (iCi).

Before TIEC, Salah managed ITIDA’s capability development programs for 4 years. He aimed at boosting competitiveness of Egyptian SMEs when he managed GrowIT program. Tarek contributed to sharpening the managerial skills of local ICT professionals by managing ManageIT program. He was also fabrication and design center manager, innovation support project manager and innovation support project manager at the Center.

Prior to joining ITIDA and TIEC, Salah was Innovation Extraction Project Manager at the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF), Technology Management Research Assistant at the Nile University (NU), Technical Pre-Sales Engineer at Alcatel-Lucent, AMS Behavioral Modeling Engineer at Mentor Graphics and Analog Circuit Design Engineer at IEP Bahgat R&D Center.

Tarek has Data Analysis Professional and VR Developer Nanodegrees from Udacity. He also went on a study mission to Italy at the University of Bologna (governance and development of SMEs in Egypt). He received a Management of Technology master degree from the Nile University in 2009. In 1999, he had a BSc of Electronics and Electrical Communications from Cairo University.
