Hack for Alex Overview

Hack for Alex is the first Hackathon organized by Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) in cooperation with the General Division of the Computer and Software of the Federation of Egypt Chambers of Commerce (ITFoCC) with the aim to use new technologies to come up with solutions to societal challenges, one of those technologies is Internet of Things (IoT) which is one of the platforms of today’s Smart Cities.

The Hack4Alex was all about turning Alex major challenges into opportunities. We challenge the Mobile/Web app developers, as well as, IOT community to come up with solutions that address the theme of “Smart City”. The goal of building a smart city is to improve quality of life by using technology to improve the efficiency of services and meet residents’ needs. Emerging technologies are poised to reshape our urban environments. Using ultra-low power sensors, wireless networks, and web and mobile-based applications, Smart Cities are becoming a reality.

What is a Hackathon?

Hackathon is software/hardware development competition where teams of developers are developing new components or products within a specified limited time. Hackathons target education or promoting new software technologies.
TIEC will start a series of hackathons to engage developers at different levels of expertise and backgrounds in new and emerging technologies such as IoT and others.
