Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC), has undergone an
extraordinary turning point, based on the state-of-the-art designed working
place, to efficiently support the largest services delivery by launching the
biggest hit in the region, Mobile, Electronics and Cloud computing technology
tracks. These tracks are revolutionary move in Egypt and the globe to encourage
entrepreneurs looking forward to a strategic upgrade for new solutions through
Internationals partnership support.
Technology Management Department(TM) is the technical arm of TIEC. Mainly, TM
creates a platform for technological innovation that connects nodes in the
national innovation ecosystem, defines key elements, provides role models, and
includes effective approaches and best practices. TM identifies technology
priorities based upon economic effects, organizes sessions and workshops that
raise public awareness and disseminate these technologies. TM manages the
technology labs in Mobile, Cloud and Electronics. Besides, TM team mentors the
technological innovation for TIEC’s incubated companies and supported
entrepreneurs. Group of programs are offered by TM including Fabrication
Catalyst (FabCat), Mobile Lab and Cloud Computing Training.
TIEC Technology Labs will act as:
- ‘One-stop-shops’ catering for the local developers’
community forming a business incubator.
- Hubs for training, testing, certification, community
building and market access.
- The nerve for developers’ community by providing a social
space so that other developers engage with one another.
- An area that consists of testing, training and meeting
rooms and includes open office spaces for start-up companies.
- A staff that coordinates the Mobile, Electronics and
Cloud computing Labs services and networking events where TIEC Technological
Labs provide mentoring and secretarial support for the companies and optimally
has a level of technical expertise.
Next Technology Leaders (NTL)
“Next Technology Leaders (NTL)” was launched to build capacity of young calibers
on the latest information and communications (ICT) technologies and Electronics.
The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) leads executing
the NTL Initiative through the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center
of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency. Capacity building is
to be orchestrated through the establishment of integral, practical,
high-quality learning ecosystem, centered on the learner and supported by a
distinctive content prepared through the collaborative effort of world-class
universities and leading companies, and made available on globally leading MOOC
platforms The ecosystem is inclusive of a nationwide network of study group
mentors that coaches learners and stimulate the learning process.
Innovation Cluster Initiative
Innovation Cluster is provided as an enablement factor for empowering innovation
and entrepreneurship through the creation of public and private partnership
(PPP). Each cluster works in a specific and promising business/technology sector
with high economic growth potential, which ICT-enabled. Each cluster carries out
its activities in a geographically diverse scope, maximizing interest and
maximizing impact. Each innovation cluster is considered as an engine for
economic development and a cradle of creative ideas, as well as successful
companies and a pioneer in job creation and collaboration.
Electronic Design Automation Support (EDAS)
The Electronic Design Automation Support (EDAS) program subsidizes availing EDA
tools for startup, micro, small, and medium companies working in designing and
producing PCBs and ICs.
Enabling the electronics industry is a current strategic goal for Egypt and in
particular for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT).
As it is one of the mandates of TIEC and in view of the many MSEs requests
received, a new TIEC service, called Fabrication Catalyst (FabCat) Service, is
proposed to support growth in this industry. The service enables fabrication of
electronic chips designed by Egyptian micro and small enterprises (MSEs) and by
academic university projects. This program support the fabrication in either
CMOS or MEMS technologies. The FabCat service is announced in annual calls
(rounds). In each round, TIEC announces the service for funding the fabrication
of electronics design using CMOS/MEMS technologies for both Industry and
Cloud Computing Program
TIEC cloud computing program is a neutral curriculum designed for business
owners and technical professionals who want to bolster their knowledge of the
Cloud Computing. By completing the training and sitting for a final online exam,
professionals can earn international certificate demonstrating their command of
the most important topics in Cloud Computing.
TIEC Android Mobile Program
Recent reports have demonstrated that mobile applications development has been
steadily growing, both in terms of revenues and jobs creation. Analysts, in
additions, have estimated that Android is the operating system of choice that
powers over 1 billion smart phones and tablets. Accordingly, TIEC is launching
an Android training program to teach the basis of the Android platform and the
TIEC Mobile Lab
TIEC has identified mobile applications development as technology priority due
to its high potential for positively impacting the local economy in alignment
with the global trend. Recent reports have demonstrated that mobile applications
development has been steadily growing, both in terms of revenues and jobs
Meet developers, be creative, collaborate, hack and have a good time.
Hack4inar is a 4 days event that will bring developers from all over Egypt to
kick start some useful applications for Inar. The event is divided over two
weekends and a ceremony gathering.
BootUp is a program that coaches young developers on best practices of software
engineering while realizing the ideas of aspiring entrepreneurs.
