TIEC Becomes Regional Partner of Challenge 22
Cairo,18 Oct 2016

The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) has become one of Challenge 22 regional partners. Challenge 22 is a long-term program launched by the Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy in Qatar which goes beyond being a competition for great ideas but rather an ecosystem to support innovation in the region.

Supporting innovation will be through a network of partnerships of local organizations in participating countries (Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Jordan, Egypt, Tunisia and Morocco) and regional institutions ranging from business incubators to academic institutions and bodies.

Challenge 22 aims to promote a culture of innovation in the Arab region and attract innovators, entrepreneurs, scientists and pioneers of the Arab world to come together and showcase their ideas that would contribute towards hosting and organizing major events and building a sustainable future for Arab societies.

The organizers of Challenge 22 aim to employ the creative potential of innovative minds in the Arab region to contribute effectively towards hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™, and are therefore seeking to attract these thinkers and give them the opportunity to showcase their capabilities to the world through one of the most important international sporting events.

The program provides several benefits to participants, including a remarkable opportunity to network with experts and partners from a wide range of fields, and a chance to showcase ideas in front of a global audience in 2022. This is in addition to mentoring from leading scientists and researchers in the region. The most innovative

ideas will win a prize of USD 15000, and an opportunity to apply for a grant of up to USD 100,000. Winners will be offered access to incubation from challenge 22 partners to bring their ideas into life.

Proposal submission will be in December 12, where participants submit a short proposal showing how their innovation will address challenges specified in the program. Final competition and prize ceremony is on 7-11 May, 2017 in Doha, Qatar.
