CIT Minister and The Minister of Education Witness the International First Lego League (FLL) Qualifying Tournament Closing Ceremony

The Closing ceremony of the International First Lego League (FLL) competition for programming and designing robots have been held with the presence of his excellency, The minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng.Khaled Negm and His excellency, The Minister of Education, Dr. Moheb El-Rafei In the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) Premises - Smart Village to announce the winners in the Egyptian finals of the Championship over two full days with the participation of More than twenty arbitrator (judges) , This year the number of contestants teams was 72, In addition to 27 team from public schools that TIEC, in coordination with the Ministry of Education, supported their participation for the first time since the start of the championship in Egypt in 2005.

FLL is a global competition for uprising young people in the age group of 9 to 16 years old, organized by the First Lego Union and the United States of America for raising the awareness of innovation, Technology, science and engineering, where the competition adopts each year a new challenge that directly affects the world we live in and the participating teams have to work on finding innovative solutions to face these challenges. Noteworthy that more than 300 000 student participates in the Fll YEARLY from more than 80 countries around the world where a local finals held in every country to choose the first winning team who will represent his country in the International Festival of the championship in the world festival, which is held annually in the United States in April of each year.

TIEC sponsored the participation of 30 schools from 16 governorates by offering registration and providing playground and robot kits. This is in addition to organizing a three-day training camp for 45 teachers from participating schools, as well as for developing centers specialists from provincial schools to get them acquainted with all details about the competition and foundations of robot innovation and technology.

A close cooperation remains intact between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Ministry of Education to promote the concept of innovation, promulgate entrepreneurship in Egypt ICT sector and pursue TIEC initiative.

The first place in the Egyptian Championship is haunted by the team “Horse Power” , The team if affiliated to the Association ”Asdaa”, Where asdaa is a group of deaf and hard-of-hearing kids between 7: 16 years in Alexandria and this team will represent Egypt in the international festival, which will be held, Missouri, USA, in 22 to 25 April 2015.
