Cairo: Monday, 29 February 2016, Egypt-based ride-sharing application ‘Raye7’ is awarded 2nd Best Mobile Startup globally at the third edition of 4YFN event at the annual GSMA Mobile World Congress, held in Barcelona, Spain this month.
Raye7, currently one of the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC) incubated startup companies, is an automated real-time community based ridesharing platform, where users rideshare only with their trusted network; that is organized into closed communities, like companies and universities.
The young technology entrepreneurs behind the application, Samira Negm and her brother Ahmed Negm co-founded the carpooling application in 2014.
The platform automatically matches users with their mates on real time bases, as it already recognizes where they live and work, identifies their location and knows their friends and colleagues from their Facebook and LinkedIn profiles.
Denmark's Kidsy, geared for educators to manage their work with children; Philippines' 1Export, built for SMEs; and South Africa's virtual wallet Mali Mobile are among the startups pitched against Raye7 at the competition which attracted entries from over 2,000 teams based in Europe, Latin America, the Middle East, Russia, Asia and Africa; according the competition organizer.
IE Business School organized the competition in collaboration with 4YFN [4 Years From Now], the business platform for technology startups promoted by Mobile World Capital Barcelona, and Imtiaz and Jseed, which are based in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The aim of the competition is to facilitate contact with investors and experts in the field, and promote networking in the sector and to give recognition to the best mobile apps and solutions developed by young entrepreneurs as well.
